How we research, write and score what we publish, and where the line sits between our editorial work and our commercial arrangements.

How our content is produced

Two kinds of content sit at the centre of the site: reviews of betting operators, and predictions for individual fixtures. They are made in different ways, and both are checked by a person before publication.

Bookmaker reviews

We open an account with an operator and use it before writing about it. That means depositing, placing bets, testing a withdrawal and, where necessary, contacting support.

Each review scores the same categories, so two operators can be compared on the same basis. The overall figure is the result of those category scores rather than an impression written first and justified afterwards.

Reviews are revisited as operators change. A bonus that has been withdrawn or a payment method that has been dropped is a factual error, and we would rather hear about it than leave it standing.

Sports predictions

Predictions are generated by a model that weighs long-run results against shorter-term signals: recent form, head-to-head record, home advantage, rest and available line-ups.

The output is then reviewed by an editor, because a model does not know that a key player was ruled out an hour ago or that a side has nothing left to play for. Where judgement and the model disagree, the page says what we think and how confident we are.

How the odds comparison works

For each market we show the best price we can find among the operators we track, and name the operator offering it. We do not quietly favour a partner by hiding a better price elsewhere.

Prices move. What we publish is the most recent figure we hold, and the operator's own price at the moment you bet is the one that applies.

Our commitments

A few principles decide what we will and will not publish.

  • Independence: no operator can buy a score, a ranking or the removal of a criticism
  • Transparency: commercial links are disclosed, and offer conditions are stated rather than hidden
  • Accuracy: we correct mistakes promptly and visibly instead of deleting them
  • Clarity: we explain what a prediction is worth, including its limits
  • Legality: we publish only about operators that are licensed, and we respect local restrictions
  • Responsibility: we never present betting as income, and we signpost help for anyone struggling

How our content is funded

We earn a commission when a reader registers with an operator through a link on the site. That revenue funds the odds data and the editorial work.

The commercial and editorial sides are kept apart: commission rates play no part in how an operator is scored or ordered. An operator that pays well and tests badly gets a bad review.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us through the contact page. Factual errors are fixed as soon as we can confirm them, and a correction to a review that changes its score is noted on the page.

Writing for us

We work with writers who know their sport and can show it. Send us a short note about what you follow and a sample of your work through the contact page.
